I have seen pics of the 'tractor' and think it is very expensive and that your wife may be correct in soft ground. In unusual circumstances, I actually remember to bring my special stool or at least a kneeling pad, but I usually just get down and suffer. However, my kneeling stool might be a good compromise. Mine is built like a very wide (square edged) letter 'n'. You sit on it in the 'n' configuration and kneel on it in the 'u' formation with the 'seat' resting on the ground with very high sides. The 'bottom' of the seat is padded for knee comfort. The high sides are good for assistance in arising from the ground. I doubt that it skids, but at least a quick semi stand is easier with the side support.

Sorry, I was originally too lazy to google it and didn't in fact find ours immediately. However, HERE is presumably an even better similar item. The Amazon one folds up. Ours is plastic with solid non folding sides.
