You could get some velvet pillows in a mustard gold color and a gold and glass coffee table. Then maybe some lamps with touches of gold for the side tables. Keeping with the gold theme, you could go with a mustard velvet curtain. If you want an airier feel, I'd use sheers or cream linen-y curtains. For more feminine, a light rose pink (maybe in a velvet as well).

My parents have dark green velvet curtains, which would show dust a lot worse than a light color, and they've never had a problem with it. Sheers or linen definitely wouldn't show dust.
