Every year I get this plant as a volunteer. I think it's a kind of endive, not my favorite variety though. It cooks down to nothing and in salads it doesn't have much crunch or flavor. I don't even remember when I first started to see it. I have a tendency to let plants go to seed, but I don't think it was me that grew the first plant. I'm wondering if, in the same way that squash doesn't grow true to seed, this is a rogue endive without a pedigree. I did a google search and haven't found a photo of any endive that looks like "my" endive (or escarole). Has anyone seen this kind?
