The gates are clear cedar and since this gate was built clear cedar has become very expensive and hard to come by. In today's pricing with the same amount of fine craftsmanship and hardware, a double-gate like this could run as high as $1600. A lower grade of cedar and even what is considered clear these days will have knots in it.
