Ideas for a small, hexagon-shaped front entryway?

We recently purchased a historic home built in 1904 which presents some modern-day challenges. First up: our front entryway is quite small with almost no walls due to it opening up to the stairs, basement door, dining room, living room, and library (in that order). The lone wall space is located right above the tall radiator cover as pictured. It is disconcerting to walk into the house and be looking at so many different rooms at the same time. Aside from a new coat of paint and decorating the basement door with a large mirror, what are some options to make this awkward foyer more inviting? (Please excuse our mess, still far from settled!)
