I never choose wood if I am ordering painted cabinets MDF is a much better choice for paint finish .

Hi so I finally decided on ordering my RTA Kitchen cabinets from Barker RTA after going to the website and then finally getting to the part where I view my cart and submit payment I get an AVS billing error mismatch. I try again same problem. Called my credit card company only to find out Barker has denied my payment both times. Tried calling but no one to answer the phone just a voicemail, so I decide to send an e-mail, finally after two e-mails I get a response from Clayton "Customer Relations Director saying Hi there-

I am currently looking into what the issue is here. I will be back in touch once I have some news to share. Thank you for your patience. Two more days have gone by and no word, so being totally frustrated because I could not get help to pay for my order, I emptied my cart and now need to find a new reputable RTA supplier for Real wood, made in the USA cabinets. Any help will be appreciated.

Call that a blessing in disguise .. Can you imagine if you forgot a part, received a damaged drawer, had a missing cabinet ...??? Scary.

Oh wow. That sounds rather unpromising. I too have been emailing Clayton for a month with questions and have a cart that I planned to checkout with in some days. Clayton has usually responded in 1-2 days.

Please keep me updated and I'll also link this to Clayton to see what might be happening, if this is a 1 time or a site wide issue.

Just an update. I was able to place an order successfully on February 1 and am now waiting for the order to be delivered (likely end of April)

Search Houzz for multiple discussions of RTA cabinets. There are many success stories on here--Barker, Scherrs, Conestoga. We used Barker and had a great experience. They were came so beautifully packaged on the nicest pallets we have ever seen. They were easy to put together. Everything we ordered came intact without dings. We loved being able to customize sizes.

Conestoga :) bought my base cabinets Feb 2014 and because of delay on my part beyond my control, we are now ordering the rest of our wall cabinets for the kitchen and also our laundry room. Went with Cabinet Joint.

After lengthy investigation into cabinet options, we went with Cabinet Joint. Coming from RTA industry a few years ago, I can say the quality is off the charts. They are customized, built on demand, so being able to size cabinets to a 1/16th inch increment is hard to adjust to, but extremely valuable as there is no extra charge. There have been some manufacturing errors in sizes that do show up, and today as I opened a sink base box, I see there are no sides included for the base. More delays. BUT...the cabinets are very strong, solid wood. They go together easy and there are great instructional videos.

I would say stay on top of order, make sure you communicate with them, and you will love the product.

Jim Barton is a patient, terrific sales rep, and the turnaround has been ok on replacements.

Just to be transparent here I am a Conestoga Dealer, Cabinet Place Online. I agree with just about everything that was written in the previous posts except for 2-things. The first being, if you want a painted finish, you do not want solid wood doors and drawer fronts, you want MDF doors and drawer fronts. The cabinet front frames should still be solid wood, and the cabinet boxes should be plywood, but if you go with solid wood doors, unless you have year round consistent humidity, you are going to get some cracks. The second thing, regarding Barker Cabinets, I have no idea on their quality, as I have never seen their cabinets in person, however I have had a number of customers who came to me after trying to work with Barker Cabinets, who say they were not able to get any help in designing their kitchens, or any help with getting a quote. They were told to go to the web site and just pick out the cabinets they wanted and place them in a cart. While this is probably fine with somebody who know their products, and doesn't need any help in customization, etc., but I would say the majority of my customers, are homeowners, DIYer's, and some women, who want a custom kitchen (no filler strips, different cabinet configurations, etc.). Who need some help working out their layouts, guiding them thru the process, etc. And that is what I offer :)

Wentzylvania, how many men do you know that are the primary instigator, planner, investigator, researcher and purchaser of a custom kitchen? There may be "some" men who are but I think mostly these things are wanted and procured by women. Maybe not, I could be wrong. But I believe I'm right when I say your post was not really needed, your comment gratuitous & snarky & it contributed nothing to the conversation. Cabinet Place Online, you responded with grace.

Would you say that Conestoga is similar to Omega in quality?

After doing a lot of research about Cabinet Joint and Conestoga , I purchased assembled and installed 14 hard maple, inset cabinets painted white 16 months ago. They are beautiful and holding up very well. The catalyzed painted finish is very durable and flawless. All dovetail drawers come assembled. Faces are assembled and a perfect fit. There were no errors in my order. My representative worked with me and was very helpful. They are both top notch companies. I would say they put customer satisfaction above all else. And if you ask anyone who knows me, I'm not easy to please ;) I'll be happy to talk with anyone and share my tips from my experience.

I'd like to chime in here and say that I purchased my cabinets from Pete at Cabinet Place Online for my last house and plan to order again for my new house from Pete. He's extremely helpful and his prices are actually better than The Cabinet Joint.

Same here Dory's. Cabinet place online was very helpful and attentive with my kitchen purchase for a great price. No issues with my order and great quality. Conestogas cabinets are beautiful. I just wish the lead times didn't have to be extended.
