Are the lockers acting as a closet for this space? If you cannot enclose that space with a wall, you may want to consider covering the back of the lockers with a panel, possibly a framed bead board. The bed wall could could have a dramatic texture on it to bring in an accent; a wood covered palette wall is labor-intensive, but looks very shabby chic when antiqued white. Stencils are great options for inexpensive dramatic walls. Update your comforter/duvet and then the vertical blinds should be the next thing to go! Good luck with your project!

I would get less bulky lamps and paint the night tables the same color. I like the carpet color and you could add some pillows in a lighter shade of that color. I would not add a headboard.

Stick to multi-purpose furniture. Under bed storage containers can free up a lot of space. Visually expand the room with the usage of mirrors. Would you mind ditching the king-size( or even queen ) bed for more space saving furnishings. From the pic you have posted, there seems to be very less space around the bed. Using, neutral colors gives the illusion of space and airiness. Whites, beige's, grays and muted pastels give that bigger feel, thereby, tricking our eyes which seems like the walls disappear and stand out. Maximize natural lighting inside the room.

I agree that the backsides of the lockers need to be covered. A neutral gray or beige tone drapery hung from a flush mount rod to the ceiling would hide all that. Choose a duvet you love with some pattern and color you love and use that as inspiration for the room. Are 2 people using this space? If not, eliminate one of the side tables and hang a long framed poster or art piece. I would purchase wall hung lamps for over the bed and eliminate bulky lamps. Vertical blinds are fine. If there is any budget left after lamps, drapes and new bedding...try to find a dresser or small armoire to store clothing so it's not exposed.

The lockers absolutely have to be covered or disposed of. There's plenty of methods for covering these up that would be cheap and look great, as mentioned in comments above. Also, I think a headboard and colorful duvet would fit nicely.
