I would remove all the miscellaneous items from top of wall peek through and walls and paint everything possibly SW Accessible Beige. No accent wall -- space is too small and lighter drapery would help too. The TV overwhelms fireplace but I assume it is staying. Perhaps you could add some pieces either side to expand the look and balance out the TV. Get one piece of art for the wall to right of fireplace and nothing else. Keep it simple and it will look great.

Matching bookcases either side of fireplace would be worth considering. Lots of little things become more distracting than enhancing spaces.

Your room is so dark. The red wall isn't good and doesn't work with the floors. Paint it the same light color as on the adjoining wall.

If you want a new look to go along with the new sofa then remove all those small shelves and little things on the floor around the fireplace. Also, the stuff on the window sill should go and the picture over the door. Clean that whole area up and show a picture of the area without any of the busy wall or floor decor.

In my opinion I would choose a color from your lovely slate fireplace. This would be a warm color to enhance your whole room.

A light tan would brighten the room or a soft shade of gray.

I would be inclined to try SW Ramie on all walls, which is shown in the pics, Love the buffalo check curtains, so cozy

Vibrant wall art

No to an accent wall. The room will be better in one color. I'd pick a light taupe.

Unless you have a wall un-pierced by windows and doors, you don't need an accent wall. The focus it the FP/TV so leave it at that.
