Do some hoyas display less splash if directly under the grow lights?

My wibergaie, caudata silver, and silver kerrii are under the grow lights and getting very nice splashy leaves. But my fungii splash has 2 new leaves growing in and they look just plain green. It is also under the grow lights.

Why is this?

Honestly, I think you're over reacting...in my experience splash plants virtually never revert to solid green...they may put out more lightly splashed leaves (look at your half-splashed leaf further down) or even no-splash leaves (like your two newbies) but the MAJORITY of their leaves will continue to be heavily splashed...You may be confusing the splash clone with the variegated clone--like Krimson Princess--which does seem to be quite unstable and will revert to solid green if you even look at it sideways, but the splash phenomenon seems to be very stable and, as I said, seemingly never totally reverts....Hang in there and watch for more new growth--chances are like 100% that the splash will be back :-)

It is reverting back to green. The cause is usually an unstable clone or, if it is a sport (a cutting from the mother plant that shows significantly different characteristics than the mother plant, itself-usually caused by "throwback" genes), it is reverting back to the original characteristics that the mother plant dominantly expresses.

You can cut the all green growth to make a new plant, or you can leave it. New vines will grow and may or may not show reversion.

I'd really hate to cut these leaves off :(

Maybe they will display some splash when they get larger.

I find that that most leaves on hoyas get their markings later on. I have a Jungle Garden that got a bunch of new dark colored leaves at once. Non had any of the little spots on them. However after they got about an in. and a half long, out came the typical little spots.

MD, I hope that is the case. In the mean time i put some of my splashy cuttings away from the grow light.

Yes, I wouldn't cut those leaves off until they are fully grown and given a chance to splash up some. Besides the next ones on the vine could be fine. I have a little variegated australis plant that keeps growing all white leaves. It is advisable not to let that continue as it weakens the plant. However, I always like to wait until they full grown and sometimes the next one along the vine will be ok, so I will just go ahead and leave that one.

Lol! A pic first would have helped! Those leaves are too small to show any significant splashing!

Wait and see!

As far as high light and splashing goes, you've seen my setup...no difference in splashing that I have noticed.

The leaves are a bit bigger now and still fail to show any splash. Im really sad about this...

I know this is an old post but i wanted to share this for an looking. Some hoyas will lose splash under high light and others gain splash. Thats just how it is. take it out of the bright light and chances are it comes back by itself. I have a pubicalyx that did this, and i know friends of mine have said the same about their particluar hoyas. More light is not always better. just like with humidity, not all plants are going to benefit from increased humidity.
