Backsplash Dilemma for Galley Kitchen

Ok, so I am about to start renovating my small galley kitchen in my NYC apartment. The backsplash is going to extend up to the cabinets (18 inches). Where would I stop the backsplash on the sink end of the counter? Do I extend it to the end of the wall or extend it only to where the cabinet comes out? Or do I only have the backsplash on the one wall and not on the side wall next to the sink?

At the other end of the counter is the oven with the building support walls next to it. Do I wrap the backsplash on the back wall and then the beam and not the side wall?

Also, any thoughts on only putting backsplash on one wall? The other side only has a counter top, cabinets, and refrigerator. Would it make the room look uneven?

Cover the whole wall. It will feel very luxurious.

And since the space is small, the splurge won't be too very expensive.

Can you please post pictures of your entire kitchen so we can get an idea of over all scale?

Generally with backsplash in these types of areas you have two options: 1. extend the backsplash the full height all the way to the end of the counter or the corner of the wall. 2. Extend the backsplash at full height to the bottom of the cabinet, then angle (45 degrees) down until about 3" above the end of the counter. Depends on what you like. Either is fine and seen as normal. Backsplash should cover all areas that countertop meets wall for proper appeal and cleaning.

I'd go all the way around the corner to edge of counter top.......and turn corners at left of stove and die into molding as the counter does now by the bread box. REMOVE the existing splashes first.

Thank you for your feedback. I just wanted to clarify a few things about the new design:

The new cabinets will be going up to the ceiling (will have to cut out the back of the uppers as there is a beam)

The counter top is being replaced by a quartz counter top.

The backsplash is going to be completely replaced as well and will go from counter to cabinet.
