I need help to design my backyard.

I have a big backyard connecting with the current patio. Please give me some ideas. My initial thought is to put paver but I don't know what else to do.

FYI, also giving me some resource to figure out a plan is also appreciated. Thanks a lot.

The grass area is about 1800 sqft ( approximiately 32x56).

I wouldn't put in pavers. You need something growing in that space to compliment the deck that you already have.

Prune back the branches in white. Plant climbing roses and shrub roses and clematis at black circle, on your arbor.

A paver path that curves right or left gives the sense that there's a place just out of sight. Creates interest.

work on improving your grass and use steel edging to give a crisp delineation between the grass and garden. The better your grass looks the more definition there is to the rest of the yard.

Most garden centers employ landscape designers (not architects) & provide designs at reasonable prices or credit what you spend on plants , etc. it looks like you have some nice basics: size, citrus trees, etc. it would definitely be worth your while to seek professional advice.

Usually people define their needs and then design. Will you grow vegetables? Do you enjoy gardening? It might help you to cross post here: California Forum
