"Summer 2016 -- Definitely a summer to remember"
The project that my husband and I started in July of 2016, involves the demolition and rebuilding of a 1920’s cottage located on Lake Scugog in Ontario, Canada. The cottage was in complete disrepair. The only part of the original building that’s being kept is the foundation, which was added to the cottage in the ‘70s. The kitchen, laundry room and washroom (on the main floor) are still functional and are being kept intact during the first phase of the project. The 1970 Airstream Ambassador, was acting as an “escape pod” and sleeping quarters during the worst part of the rebuild. Once the second floor is complete, with two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a laundry room, the main floor will then be completely gutted and rebuilt.
After the house is finished, the next projects will be to build a new garage, and then renovate the 1970 Airstream. We plan to bring the Airstream back to its original luster (inside and out), and use it as a guest house for family and friends.
This project is FAR from over...Did I mention that we're doing all of the work ourselves? So far, we've only needed to hire a company to install a steel roof. Considering the height of the house, I think it was a good decision :)
