We've got just about enough reclaimed old growth douglas fir to mill into flooring for our house. However, we're a bit short and I would really like to use a bit of it for furniture and decor. I could get the remainder of what I need for flooring in douglas fir off craigslist but has anyone mixed douglas fir with other species? We'll be putting a darker stain on the wood, so maybe the specie wouldn't matter? Or, will shrink/swelling vary quite a bit between specie?
