We have hired a contractor to build a home in Gorham on dead end street off Main Street. The mouth of our street is across from Declan's future elementary school! And ten minutes from Declan (and his parents!).....instead of 45 minutes. It is all on one floor with great room/kitchen under cathedral ceiling and, most importantly, lots of light from many windows + sky lights. Hi christine, you need to hire an architect first before a contractor. They effectively plan the rooms pf your home based on your requirements. Second is hiring an interior designer to help you with the materials, finishes and colours. It does get very overwhelming and it will help to hire professionals who are best at what they do. Then hire tour contractor to execute the plans provided by your architect and interior designer.

Yes, we are working with an architect as we are customizing a plan to make it more user-friendly for our needs. We, unfortunately, are financially unable to hire an interior designer so are going on our fine-honed instincts after 42 years of marriage!
