Looking for first Bamboo

I live in zone 5, and am looking for my first bamboo plants. Am interested in anything. I am new to all this so please bear with me.

Any bamboo should work for you. Just make sure you plant them in standard, vase- shaped pots. Decorative ceramic pots that curve in at the top are a no-no as it will be impossible to extract the plant when it becomes rootbound and needs to be unpotted to divide it.

As a general rule, to exchange more than a single back bulb, the postage would eat you alive. Just buying bamboo locally (if possible) is a cheaper alternative. Thank the Post Office for rate hikes.

Very few bamboo survive Zone 5 winners, and those that do will suffer from topkill. Are you planning to plant these in the ground or in pots that you can move indoors in the winter?
