the kitchen is beautiful don't gussy it up with a busy tile. Pick something on the plainer side -- maybe a beautiful glass subway tile with matching grout so it's not too busy. And you could consider laying it differently if you want more pop - maybe in a herringbone pattern. Anyway, everything looks really nice - except if that is a yellow curtain on the window -- do away with that. Does not go with everything else.

I'd go either sparkly white or a gray taken from the veining in the counters. Either would enhance what you have without competing. This seems like a beautiful kitchen.

I would go for a pop of color. Use your favorite color, a color that pulls in tones from an adjoining room, etc. Then match curtain to it, plus maybe something on the kitchen island. We just installed a colored glass tile (about 3"x6") in a neutral modern kitchen--we installed in a grid but you can install it subway style if you want the retro look.

Very nice and similar elements to my kitchen! We chose to go with 2x8 white subway tiles with random 2x2 tiles that picked up the color of our blue island. Also did accent tiles above cooktop that pulled in wall color.

I could see glass tile- gray that coordinates w counter or even a shade of blue.

Pricey but a silver metallic in a small hexagon shape would give it a contemporary but classic look

Agree with Cathy above. You can use write but trim or add occasional metallic tile or trim.
