Is there a wall opposite the TV ? Picture does not show that side of room.

It's actually the window (light gray couch) side

Sorry, what I intended to ask was, is there another wall opposite sofa.? A pic of that side of room would help.

What would you like this room to look like?

It seems you're leaning toward a more contemporary feel. If so, I would nix the gallery wall project. The template pieces are too small and busy. One or two large pieces of art would be a better option. Glad you're removing the console. I'd also remove all of the nik-naks from the stairway ledges. It's hard to tell the shape/style of your window - but looks like you've got some pretty bright light coming in. Is that a problem with the tv?

The opposite of the dark gray couch is the opening of our kitchen

Lots of light coming in from the window, we don't watch tv during the day usually so not particularly an issue
Any suggestions on a console ?

I would start by replacing the area rug. And add a couple of colorful throw pillows. Also what would look nice would be a nice size picture over the sofa.

I would look on line at Crate and Barrel. This store usually has some very nice tv stands. If you live where there is a C & B outlet, the price is reduced.
You need a much larger tv stand. I really think your furniture is in need of rearranging. Your sofa isn't centered. I would center on wall. If tv is going to stick up over stair wall, I would move tv. Perhaps consider placing tv on couch wall, couch facing tv, and chaise in corner by stairwell with floor lamp and small table.
You need a large piece of art on stairwell. Remove everything else from stairwell. You could do 2 piece of art on each side of tv or towers on each side of tv. You do need some pillows on sofa and lumbar pillow on chaise. I would also consider finding a throw or 2. (One for sofa(?) definitely chaise.). You could confer putting two small stools in front of window. If room is not large enough for tv to go in front of tv, consider placing it in front of window and place a sofa table behind it in the recessed area.

I like your Snoopy art, but it's hung way too high. Here's a rule: art goes at eye level unless it's hanging over furniture, in which case it goes 5 - 8" above. Remember though, in a room where you're mostly sitting, eye level is much lower than standing eye level would be.
