built-in hutch / china closet / buffet for dining room dimension help

attached is a floor plan of my approx 13x12 dining room.

(the wall btwn living and dining room is being removed)

we will be using it for weekends and want a hutch/china closet/buffet with a surface to light a candelabra and a little display and storage.

attached is also a deign we like (we can use stock cabinets and counters and build in if that works... are can have cabinets hang from 8 ft ceiling and not fully reach countertop as well)

our thoughts were to build a smaller version of picture on 8ft wall adjoined to kitchen..

1)what is minimum depth for such a unit?

2)do i have enough room in my dining room for that
(how much space is recommended from edge of table)

3)do you think we should extend the kitchen island through depth of this built in unit going flush with dining room wall, or is that not leaving enough room for serving.

4)any ways to do this without custom cabinets?

5) what size cabinets and empty space in middle would look proportional for this amount of space

6)any other ideas or comments? -

the windows arent installed yet, so we can play around with that, but it wont work against back dining room wall with window centered, because window shades will get in the way of the lit candles.

thanks
