If we were building this project today it would likely be in the $225-250 per square foot range. While a lot of relatively inexpensive materials were used, they are used in ways that are very labor intensive and detail oriented, which take both skill and time. You can design lower cost structures that are more straightforward that can also be quite nice. The general design philosophy here is build smaller, but build better. So you might end up with a smaller higher cost per square foot house, but it would likely be much better built and nicely appointed over a general builder house.
