Use SW 30% Discount or Contractor Paint Pricing?

Trying to save every bit we can since this is totally new construction and we are over budget. SW has 30% discount going on for paint and stain (of which we need both - contractor quote shows 35 gallons of paint and 5 gallons of stain). Question is trying to figure out better pricing if we purchase paint and provide to contractor or let him purchase at his pricing. Like the contractor and don't want to offend him but we really need the best price.

Talk to your painter about this. He/she may like having you buy the materials as this brings down his liability base (taxes).

I've never met a painter who cared who supplied the paint. In fact, a lot of them have preferred if I supplied it because it keeps them from being responsible for calculating the correct amount in case they end up needing more. The SW Manager I used to deal with in the store when I was doing a lot of paint projects told me the 30% off is better than contractor pricing.
