lower the shelves

I cannot lower the shelves.

why?

honestly because I suck at it, and my husband who does that is deployed. And I dont want to put more wholes in the wall. and my toddler is destructive with things she can reach.

I agree with needing color. Find a rug that you love (with color) and then pick the pillows to match the rug. Everything else is so neutral, I think you could pick any rug!

I think the bottom one could work really well & blend nicely with your other room.

Until the shelves are moved, the room will never be right. Also you mount pictures too high in your room.

but I will never replace family photos with art, especially because my 2 year old needs to see pics of her daddy while hes deployed. And I'm okay with that, I think my family is more beautiful than any piece of artwork. Also, I think my room is pretty great minus the specific things I asked about.

What 2 year old can see pictures that are 6 feet off the ground? Family pics on ledges are best displayed in home corridors so they can be more easily seen. Pros don't make these suggestions to make you feel bad. We try to pass on what we have learned and what works for home.

They are suggesting that I move them as they are situated above the couch. When she stands on the couch she is gaining a height advantage. And seriously? 2.4 months old and yea, she can see pics that are 6 feet above the grounds and points to them often. So, mine.

I would stick with this rug..very cute works well with your furniture and open kitchen....do a white based lamp with black shade and add lots of gray and white pillows...Just one pillow with red on one side of sofa.

Rug is great!......wow newhomeowner...this room has come a long way already!! Do you want the links for the pillows I posted from Etsy.com? They would really look great! You need a coffee table..I think round would be best with small children.

With a toddler and dog, look at an outdoor rug. They come in many colors and styles and are cheap but designed for durability.. In a few years invest in a quality rug, but life, grape juice and Pee happens. Dogs or my dogs have radar for getting sick on the "good" rug.
