Mortar Color

My builder is in Ohio and can't get LaFarge 051 Mortar like you have shown. They have access to Brixment and the color is SW-Soft White. Would that be a good compromise? We are doing an all brick home with shakes and this is our most important decision. Thanks Jeannie!

Ben, Lafarge 051 is a true white and our mason ordered white sand. Very comparable to Coosa Glacier White. The Brixment website's "competitors color match" feature says Brixment Soft White with white sand is closest match to Coosa Glacier White, but also closest to Cooa Ivory Buff. While one is true white and the other pale buff, I would personally love either of those colors with this Pine Hall brick. The true white is going to give you more of a white-washed look.

Your builder's brick rep may be able to supply you with addresses where your preferred brick and mortar color has been used.

In the case of custom built homes where time and budget permitted, I've ordered a cube of brick and had mock up walls done to compare two different mortars. I would never expect a production builder to fit this in their schedule or budget.

As I've mentioned in other posts, homebuyers should expect to pay extra for white or light mortars.
