Thank you for thinking outside the box! You do great kitchens.

Can you tell us a little bit about these cabinets? Did you build them? Are they cherry?
Thanks so much,
Sara

Thank you, Sara. The cabinets are red birch. I made them by specifying the parameters necessary for a CAD/CAM-driven shop to program their tooling for building them. That is why the drawer setup you are seeing works so well. It is deeper than the industry standard. This gives me more room to fit storage. I no longer own a shop, but effectively run one. For me and for my clients, that has proven to be the best of both worlds.

Thanks for taking time to answer my question. We have been debating between cherry and red birch. We hope to attend your seminar this weekend in Seattle. Your kitchen design, with a thinking person's cabinets, are dream-worthy.

I prefer red birch myself. You can feel the difference when you handle a door, as the wood is more dense and heavier. It's about 25% more resistant to denting than cherry, as well. It machines beautifully. I also like that it is less common! I hope you can make it to the seminar. My booth is right across from the stage.
