Pine Sol is not suitable for coil cleaning. For that matter coil cleaning isn't something that should be attempted until one has done it a few times under direct supervision of an experienced individual. More harm than good can result from improper material and procedure. With that said,there are a number of things besides dirty coils that cause odors. If you are resolute in not bringing in a pro the FIRST THING I recommend is asking 2 or three people outside the household to tell you A. If they smell anything to be concerned with. B. Exactly what it smell's similar to ( you may be amazed). The first remedy I recommend for heating odors is raise windows,set t-stat to max temp, aux/emerg heat,blower to cont/on and let it run 30 minutes. That action will burn off fuzz that often collects on resistant heat strips during non-heating season.
