I guess it is all up to the use of the stool. There are standing stools, where you sit at the edge of the stool and your legs are pretty fully extended, then there are the sitting ones. I guess, the best ergonomics for a stool should take into consideration the seat level and tilt, and the foot rest height and position in relation to the seat.
