Remove shutters. Paint siding a color in tone with the bricks.

When it is time for new roofing a darker roof is desired. I live in a hot area so I understand the need for a light roof but you should be able to go a little darker than what is there now.

What I did not show in the image is a different color for the front door.

I might paint the windows in a dark color. I could not show that either.

The porch light is not bad but I would get a new one and have it one that faces down instead of up.

Hi. The right side of the pic is blurry, so I've just worked on the left. You might repaint in taupe (find the shade that blends best with the brick, and paint the down pipes too, though they could be a shade lighter). Remove the blinds. Large container plants on each side of the door would help make a feature of it, as would a white trim. It could happily be left black, but you could also consider a welcoming colour. Then pay a lot of attention to getting a better shape and more vitality into the landscaping.

The black door does not work for me.

Not with your lighter palette, certainly. It looked okay with mine (with the white surround), but I do think it's rather serious looking.

Kimberly, are you repainting the brick on the advice of your realtor, or because it's not in good condition? Many people love brick or like its low-maintenace qualities. You may not be increasing the appeal of the house by painting it.

I'm not a great fan of grey, but in this case I think it could work beautifully with white for a fresh look. You would be wide open to possibilities for the door colour.
