What to do with my kitchen...

Hello. This is the kitchen in my new house. It's small and quite dark due to the wood. The ceiling is also wood panelling. I can't decide whether to get a new kitchen, in which case I'd like to knock the wall by the fridge through and make it a bit more open and social on the lounge or to make do with what's there and paint cupboard and tiles etc to modernise.
Was just after some inspiration and thoughts.

These cabinets look amazing painted. Maybe a new countertop and paint all the existing wood, including the ceiling.

Light, fresh with a pop of colour. Would look so much brighter in your kitchen. The cost effective way to make a big visual difference!

It depends in how far you want go. The biggest updates will be painting the ceiling and changing the tiles

I had a similar kitchen , it helped taking out the cupboards above the cooker to open up the space

Thanks guys. The one issue I have with keeping the cupboards is the fitting is not very good. You can't really see on the pics but there is a gap either side of the washing machine where the extra surface has been added. Unsure what I'd do there if I was to renovate what was there. Love the pic of the painted cabinets, thank you.

Do you have the budget to knock through and redo the whole kitchen? That is what I would want to do

Can you get something to fill the space by the washer? If there's a space either side perhaps you can push the washer to one side to allow for another cupboard?

It's all down to budget because it's not just a case of replacing the existing units. You want the ceiling swapping, tiles hacked off etc.

Or is there a towel rail by the washer as it's by the sink?

There's a leg holding up the surface next to the washing machine so it can't be moved down. Surface goes straight to the wall.

Hi Louise Hogg,

We would not recommend to paint the kitchen doors if they are 'laminated'. This is because A) Hand painted kitchen doors might look 'cheap'. B) It would be very hard to spray paint them as it might be impossible to prepare them for the process of painting... The cheapest option would be to buy new kitchen doors.

There are many different options, it all depends on your budget.
