Architect or Draft Person?

We are going to build a custom home.

We have probably put 100's of hours into the planning process. The plans are drawn to scale (including wall width (4" interior and 6" exterior).

We have detailed plans for each room for items like cabinets, which cabinet, the measurements of the cabinet, type, etc.

We know window types and sizes and many of the fixtures.

As we move forward we are continuing to research specifics well in advance of when we need to make certain decisions, such as counter tops, plumbing fixtures, knobs handles, etc.

My question is, with all the detail we have put into the planning process ourselves are we better off with an architect or a draft person?

I would want an architect to review for structural integrity, of course, although we did consider that in planning the design.

I've never built a custom home before although I remember a lot of the process when my folks did when I was 11 because I went with them to choose much of the details, it seemed we spent a year going from vendor to vendor.

I'm getting a jump on that because I don't want to have deadlines and crunch times -- I want to enjoy this experience.

I've seen some steep prices for architects (2-3 per square foot). I can definitely see paying that if they have to do all the detail work I've already done. I spent about four days combing catalogs and moving cabinets around just in the kitchen until I had them arranged in what I consider the best possible arrangement for ease of use, aestetics, etc.

It is a large home by most standards so if a draft person would suffice I would prefer to go that route.

Thanks for your advice and input.
