How often is the room used? Is it the usual tv-watching room, a place to entertain guests, or a room for children?

I think the TV should be on the wall where the love seat is. Then the loveseat should be perpendicular to the sofa facing the TV.

The table and chairs can go where the TV is now.

That gives you a better and more cozy TV watching area of the room, then the table is the game playing, homework, laptop area of the room.

As you have it now, the TV is way too far away from the sitting area.

I agree with Auntthelma - the layout of your furniture is very impractical. I assume you sit on your sofa(s) to watch TV, but with it that far away and a walkway between the sofa and TV, you are going to have a hard time enjoying your space.

Try making the area where the TV currently is more of a play space for the kids. The little table would be good there and you could hang some kid-friendly art over it.

Putting the TV where the love seat is and flipping the loveseat will provide a much better viewing area, as much as I hate the idea of sofas with their backs to the windows.

The art over your love seat is hung far too high. It should be hung at 57" on center from the floor. You could also measure about 6" up from the top of the sofa/TV.

As for "filling in" the space around the TV, there's no reason to do so. If the space just really bugs you, opt for a live, potted plant on either side, which will add oxygen to the room.

Thank you! This room is an odd shape and I will definitely try your great suggestions. I hate the idea of the couch in front of the window as well. Would it be odd to try the love seat caddy corner on the big window/play where play table is now. Big couch where the TV is currently and TV on the love seat wall?

The room is pretty much used for everything. All TV watching and children playing. We have a formal living room, but most likely guests will be entertained in here for the most part (we just moved in-- trying to figure it all out)!

Is there enough room to keep the tv on the wall where the artwork was, the sofa on the window but fulled forward a foot or so, and put the love seat opposite the sofa? That would open up the window with the plantation shutters and give the large window some breathing room. You could even put a sofa table behind the sofa. The play table could then stay where the tv was originally.

Or - leave the TV on the wall with the art where you moved it.

Put the large sofa across from the TV. Put the love seat perpendicular to the sofa but facing the big window.

You now have a cozy TV room with a view and also a second open concept area for kids' toys or a game room.

Not sure if that will make the TV watching area too boxed in.

I agree with Auntthelma. You keep putting all the furniture against the walls, but this is a very large room. You would have to be a giant to feel comfortable talking to someone sitting on the opposite side of this room.

In large rooms, especially, it's important to pull furniture into "conversation circles" - that is, close enough that you don't feel like you have to yell for someone on the other pieces of furniture to hear you.

I'm guessing this room is roughly 15x18?

Looks good. Bring the loveseat a little closer to the sofa so that it shares the side table with the sofa. Set them up sort of like a sectional but the side table is the corner piece. That opens a walk way between the loveseat and TV wall.

A sofa table would be a nice idea behind the love seat. I agree with auntthelma that you should pull the love seat closer to the sofa. Looking good!

Thanks everyone! The only problem is, they're recliner couches so I'm afraid they won't be able to be closer together
