I see your problem with the differing types of wood. I work using colours on a theoretical level and most of the time it works (although it takes some convincing).

Your pine and oak are giving off a yellowish tint (which is probably making your green look seasick); to counter this you should use the complementary colour of yellow which is purple.

This can range from aubergine (dramatic) to pale lavender or lilac (muted). Pale lavender and lilac look chocolate brown in the evening. It also works with creams and whites.
