We moved into our new construction home a couple of months ago and have been at a standstill with styling our space ever since. While we are still happy with our material choices, we need help finishing off the space in a way that makes it feel cosy and lived in. Our home is a unique design with inverted living and a monochromatic colonial exterior, built to take in a gorgeous cliff/river view (hence all the windows you'll see in my photos). The entertaining space in particular includes farmhouse style white oak hardwood floors and a reclaimed brick fireplace. The space functions as three rooms: a living room, a dining area (with a built-in banquette under the windows, a built-in bar and built-in desk), and a kitchen with an 8 foot island. Originally I liked all the white walls, and now I am second-guessing whether it needs more color. The other major items to be addressed include window treatments (how do we capitalize on that gorgeous view, while avoiding the blinding sun of mid afternoon... Wood blinds, Roman shades??), wall art placement, and a kitchen backsplash. I have also been toying with the idea of doing some wainscoting on the far east wall in the kitchen (to the right of the fridge as seen in my photo). Any suggestions for this busy mama of three would be much appreciated!!! :)
