You have good foundation pieces with the seating, tables and lamp. It's counterintuitive but if you're stuck, it may help to "cleanse your palate" so to speak by removing the artwork, coffee table decor, large urn, window scarf, rug (sorry, it's too small) and the 14-16 pillows so you can start imagining possibilities.

Thank you both. Great advice. I have already been thinking about changing the curtains and rug. We want to paint the walls first so I've been waiting to do that. The pillows all actually came with the sofa, don't know if I want to change those. Love your ideas and will take them all into consideration. Thank you

Sounds like you are ready for changes. It's a lot easier to coordinate paint color with a new rug and curtains than vice versa. Take a pillow or two with you to the rug store to shop and to the paint store when you pick up samples.

The ironwork art is a good size. You can use its measurements as a guide for a great new piece of art.

Choose either the rug or art for over sofa BEFORE painting. Either of those pieces should be your inspiration for color in the room. Room feels empty because rug is small & furniture pushed against walls. The rug should be larger (longer & wider): front third of each sofa should sit on it. Art should be about 2/3 the width of sofa. Use newspaper and make a template to try so you know what size to look for when shopping. Go to local galleries, art shows, museum stores for art. Remove table runner & most of the pillows, you can't use the sofas now just looks like furniture store.

You need a bigger, more colorful or patterned rug.

Your rug needs to be much larger..at least front legs of the sofas need to be on the rug.

I would add a floor lamp and I removed some of the accessories. I show a larger rug. I am not suggesting that color for the rug.

I would remove the swag portion of the window covering.

The lamp table and lamp should be in the dark corner and use a porcelain based lamp to provide some weight on top of the thick table

Consider multiples of graphics to make your wall more interesting
