These cabinets were purchased new. The cabinet maker paints the new wood cabinets at their shop, then rubs off (or lightly sands off) the dried paint here and there ..... only on the sharp edges of the frame of the cabinet door/drawers. Never sanding on the panel of the doors.

Couple thoughts: If your existing cabinets are Alder or Maple they are a good candidate for this process of painting and antiquing. If they happen to be Oak, keep in mind it's difficult not to have the grain pattern of Oak show thru the paint. Also, white cabinets are very difficult to work with ..... meaning everything has to fit just about perfect. Otherwise, any joints in the wood will show and perhaps take away from a high quality look. Finally, a little of this antiquing process goes a long way .... it only takes a light touch of sanding on the edges very randomly to achieve this look successfully.
