Turlock California I've read where I live is either zone 9a or 9b can't find anything concrete on that either, the African daisy just says mixed colors, by american seed. I ended up puing the echinacea in the frige with a damp paper towel in plastic bag and gonna hope for the best

African Daisy - Dirmorphothca sinuata. Phlox - phlox drummondii. Zinnia - zinnia elegans. Four o'clocks - mirabillis jalapa. cosmos - cosmos bipinnatus

OK - the Dimorphotheca won't need stratifying, nor will the 4 O'Clocks, ZInnias or Cosmos. The Phlox would be helped by it.

So cold stratify the phlox? And is paper towel method good for the echinacea, and should I do the same for phlox and Lupine? Lupine Russell Hybrid by burpee is what I got. I read I can just slightly rub the lupine seeds on Sand paper and then soak them in a 50\50 water peroxide mix if that would work?

Sorry, I've never used any of those methods. I just sow in pots and leave them out over the winter. So I can't help you with any other technique.

Hayden, your Lupin -

Pour hot water over seeds, let soak 1-3 days until swelling noticeable. Sow at approx 68F for germination in more than two weeks. Little less labor intensive than sanding/nicking. If your hands, soaking vessel are clean, I'm not sure the peroxide may be needed.

The echinacea definitely benefits from stratifying for good results, the species mina lobata, zinnias do not and would probably detrimental. Don't know what "Spanish Flag" refers to-"Spanish Dagger" is widely grown Yucca here :-)

4 O'Clocks don't need it. Just soak them overnight and plant.
