My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Never again!

(well, I 'think' never again!) Have you ever done a quilt that just made you crazy??? My daughter in law had mentioned she might like a quilt that would remind her of the beach. They moved from south Florida to the Raleigh, N.C. area last summer and they love love love the beach. I saw this panel in The Quilt Place and then saw a display (with a very different fabric!) using this pattern. Well, I didn't realize the problems that would follow since the panel I bought was not even close to the size recommended for the pattern. So, my 5th, 6th, 7th etc grade math had to come into play since each piece had to be adjusted. Arrrgh. But, I hope she likes it. Soft blue minky backing, so that could be my saving grace! It's in the mail! Whew!!!

    First of all, that's a very cool quilt, wouldn't want to tackle it, though. Yes, I made a quilt that when I saw a photo I immediately wanted it. It was Kaffe Fassett's bordered diamonds. So although I didn't have any of his fabulous fabric, I did have some very luscious fabrics I wanted to use. I had never done anything with diamond shapes before. I struggled with that quilt big time. But I was determined to finish it since I'd already cut up all that beautiful fabric for it. NEVER again will I make a diamond-shaped block quilt. I also guard it and won't part with it, and since it was such a pain to make I also hesitate to use it but I should. I guess the lesson here is test a new technique before you commit to it, huh?

      Beth, it's beautiful! I love the colors.

      My "never again" quilt is an apple core charm quilt. I tried to use every fabric I had that was big enough to cut a patch, so it came out pretty big (it's a wall hanging, but a LARGE one!).

      Your quilt is beautiful! Yes, I have made a few quilts that made me crazy. I made two DWRs and don't plan to ever do it again. The other quilt that drove me mad is the Christmas Tree quilt I made with a jelly roll of batik fabric. I love it now that it is finished but will never use that pattern again.

      The final result is beautiful so the aggravation was worth it. I made a twin sized Dresden plate quilt and will never make another.one. It wasn't difficult but it was boring.

      Thanks for the kindnesses, friends. DIL got her 'blankie' and the kids (ages 4 and 8) immediately 'tried it out'. I think they all like it. She is a DIL worth every trial and frustration! (but, I still wouldn't do this pattern again!! LOL).

      Really beautiful. It's amazing how easy a project can look before you begin. I too do not have a handle on the computational math needed for changing. Some of my quilts get overly large while I work it out, by hook or by crook fashion.

      I think this is my favorite attic window quilt ever! I love the perspective that is given by the window panes and I think you picked the perfect panel to showcase it. You did an excellent job!

      Sometimes people make really thick window panes but they neglect to trim the panel so whatever the panel is, it looks funny, like a 12 foot long deer.
