Emtek Sandcast Hampton Door Knob with Style 4 Rosette · More Info

Hi. I need help choosing the type of crystal knob and backplate size. All my doors are dark stained alder 8' doors. I know I would like an Emtek crystal knob but I don't know which one. I also need either the 7" or 9" flat black quincy sideplate with it. I like so many of the Emtek crystal knobs, I don't know which one to choose and I need to know by tomorrow. I like either the hampton crystal egg, diamond or lowell. My house is traditional but really a little of trendy, clingy things sprinkled throughout. Help! First pic is hampton and second is diamond. Try not to let backplate sway your opinion.

I have Emtek crystal knobs in my bath, and Emtek leversets on all the doors, interiors and exterior. They are all beautiful.

Without seeing your house, it is hard to say much. The Hampton is simple and elegant. I think it would blend in with many styles. Round knobs can be hard to grip, but the egg shape helps.

I selected rectangular rosettes. I really like the way the shape of the rectangular rosettes matches the shape of the doors. Much better than the old round ones!

If you choose to have some metal knobs or levers, you can link them by using the same rosette.

I'd say go with the crystal. something like this one with chrome/ stainless steel plate to complement your dark stained doors :)

that's a really, really good point, and that's why I switched to crystal and not a flat black knob because it was just lost in the door. But, I already have all the flat black hinges and there is no chrome in the house, just polished nickel. I think I have to stay with the flat black rectangular backplate, but I just can't decide on the crystal knob. Do you think the hampton is too modern? or rather do you think the diamond versions are too traditional and somewhat victorian? I like the hampton clear egg but scared its too modern.

Go for the hampton. Follow your heart :) You said your house is traditional with trendy items throughout, so make your door knobs as statement pieces. It would be a nice touch/ accent to your traditional place. Also, I think it'll update your style and will not make it look dated, thus it'll be on the transitional decorating style. :)

On the other hand, the crystal will be a posh addition to your doors. I wouldn't say it's more on the traditional style. The crystal gives a high end intimidating feel while the clear egg gives a high end yet comfortable look. It's now your call to decide ;) both are very nice!

So hard! Posh versus comfortable! Lol! I think I might have to posh!
