I think it can be fun to play with tile. I like doing it when I need a zen moment. But your counters are wonderful. I used subway tile and a rope tile to break it up in my bathroom. The rope tile gives a texture and shape difference without complicating things. a little visual interest if, you would. You could use a different tile on another wall not touching the counters as an accent piece. A mosaic mural in the room could be fun but it would need to be big and on the order of an installation art work.

alot of drama but it would not make your counter feel out of the design. See how the trees are there but not? That is because they are a solid piece of glass, which by the way is easy to clean.

My ultra patient husband picked up some white options for me, and I took pictures. We are definitely into the realm of "there is so little difference, just pick one" now hahaha. I kinda like the beveled one, but I don't like the one with the reverse bevel (not sure what it's called). Otherwise I guess it's just a question of the bright white or the warmer white. He picked up a cracked glazed one that I didn't take a picture of cause I don't like it at all lol :) (the cabinet you can see in the photo has to be repainted because it doesn't match the drawer fronts...the drawers/doors are the correct white, just fyi)

Of the tiles being held against the cab doors (thank you Mr. Hand Model), I like the tile in the second photo. The raised edge tile is unique, handsome and is a nice colour compliment to the cabs...and the shape duplicates the shape of your cabs. It would be a nice duplication of form.

I like the beveled edge, you can go with white grout. You can also go with a really light gray grout in case the white is a little different than the cabinet white. Is the beveled edge one glossy or matte?

This might be a great option for you. Not subway but still simple and understated.

I like the gray glass...but the installer must guarantee it will still look gray after installation. The glass will help reflect light, but you may want to add more lighting or change what you have if your kitchen is normally on the dark side. Consult the lighting specialist for the correct bulbs.

That is one thing that crossed my mind actually! The easier to clean, the better ;)

I have very similar granite with dark cabinets. I used 3x12 subway tile butted against each other with white grout. Very pleased with the result.

I would suggest a darker grout that pulls the color of the counter. In design the first thing learned is what you do one place you do some where else since repetition is pleasing to the eye as is a odd number of elements. Most of the time no more than three repeated elements. I would also add a liner tile(in the upper 1/3 of the tile) the same color family as the grout to make the design cohesive.

the recessed bevel mimics the recesses in the door panels. Repetition. Its not just for kids lol.

I vote for either of the last two images you posted. Keep the backsplash simple. The other two choices may look nice as a single unit, but try and picture all the busy pattern you'd be introducing with either of those choices. No dark grout either.

Thanks barb! That's exactly what I was thinking. I like the beveled ones singularly, but I think repeated all across the wall it might be too busy. And I think flat ones will be easier to keep clean. I'm in the home stretch! Good points Gdesigns :)
I think it's down to these two plain ones though lol! So it's a battle of the whites. I like them both, depending on the light. So I had to take multiple pics. As hubby has said though...once they're up I won't even think about it anymore. He said, "I could probably buy the wrong one and you'd never even notice." He underestimates my eye for noticing subtle color differences and my perfectionist tendencies though HAHAHAHA.

Are your cabinets white or off-white? The tile on the right looks a bit creamier, in a good way...

Your cabinets appear to be on the creamier side of white. Based on what I can see, the creamier of the two may be the one!

Thanks! I.Have.Decided. Ha! I'm going with the creamier tile. It was my initial gut instinct and I'm going with it. The weirdest part, and I don't think this has happened yet during our remodel.... it is literally the least expensive option! Naturally when I saw that, I had to look again and decide if it really was the one I wanted because I naturally tend toward the more expensive options lol ;) The cabinets are Dover White. The granite is called Frosted Ice, but as I recall from when we were looking at slab after slab and researching online I think the same exact granite is often sold under different names. Here's a pic of the slab (cropped out my husband doing his game show host impersonation to showcase our selection when we picked it lol)

I have beveled subway tiles in my kitchen, no harder to clean than any other subway tile. I think cream is a good choice but as i said before the tiles that mimc the cabinet doors are a more interesting choice. It reinforces the cohesive look of the whole design. I thought the same as you but after I using the subway tiles in a bath design with a 1/4 inch grout line and a darker grout the whole project stood out. It had a more solid, interesting feel as opposed to feeling uninteresting and run of the mill feel. The most compliments I receive are on this project.

You granite is lovely and has a lot of movement. Your choices are too small in scale and it fights with the pattern of the counter. I would suggest a larger tile for the backsplash, more of a subway size.

I think the tiles are too small and will be too busy. Go lighter.

Thanks guys! I decided to go with a creamy white subway tile with white grout :) Already purchased, and now just waiting for my husband's project schedule to open up. Actually we're waiting for the grout to arrive, as we had to order it. He's currently finishing putting on the cabinet doors and drawer fronts. My kitchen is finally looking less like a construction zone and more like a kitchen lol
