I've never heard of it either, but thymes seem to grow well together in my garden. I'd just plant it with the others and keep an eye on it. You can always pull or transplant any new plants. It sounds interesting, I'd try cooking with it and see what happens

It is not a culinary form of thyme (Thymus vulgaris) but as noted a groundcover or creeping thyme, Thymus pulegioides (or T. praecox-articus, depending on source).

IME, culinary thyme forms more of a compact mini shrub with a rather slowly expanding habit, whereas creeping thyme creeps and expands indefinitely and depending on selection, sometimes quite aggressively.

I only want culinary forms of thyme in that bed, so I will remove it and place it in a spot I have trouble with weeds and erosion. Can I use it for scent alone? Like in potpouri? Or a bath? It smells like coconut to me. Is it toxic?

Is caraway thyme culinary? I have been on the lookout for that. I could put caraway thyme in the spot I placed the coconut thyme.

The real culinary forms of thyme are cultivars of Thymus vulgaris. Caraway thyme, Thymus herba barona, is also a creeping or groundcover thyme but does have some culinary uses as well. Even your lemon thymes are not considered culinary forms. But they are ALL edible and can be used for various purposes, most often teas. They tend not to have a good strong thyme flavor like the culinary thymes, more delicate and subtle. FWIW, many sources report that the scent and taste of these so-called 'flavored thymes' are not very distinct :-) YMMV
