New Construction: door knob and hinges help

Our original spec sheet said for everything to be oil rubbed bronze but we decided to change it to satin nickel and told the builder unfortunately we went by today and all doors were hanged in oil rubbed hinges. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? We definitely want a contemporary modern look. Should we ask the builder to change them? Would that be hard? I don't want to sound picky but I don't think it will look right.

Hello there, you are not being picky and will be living with the hinges for a long time. I hope you have a change order or a transmittal that reflects the change you requested to Builder about the hinge finish.

I assume there was a change order made and everyone signed off on it, it wasn't just a verbal thing? If it isn't what you asked for, ask for it to be changed.

It would not take more than a couple of hours for someone who knows what they are doing to change the hinges, and for sure, they should be changed. The builder should have changed the order for the doors to have satin nickel hinges instead of ORB. Please DO sound picky. It's your home and you are the one paying for it!

As you continue in your home building experience it is important to keep a paper record between yourself and your builder as you make changes to your home that way when these issues come you will know that all bases are covered. Building a home is a GREAT experience so enjoy the project.

This has happened a few times to me as a builder I have the place I bought the doors from change the hinges I buy all my material from them and they don't charge me or the customer

Change it now while it's a small job. No big deal, that's not being picky and I'm sure the builder won't see it as such.

All good advice. I had one door installed in my last house with brass hinges, satin nickel everywhere else. I missed it. Even though it was a small room rarely used, drive me crazy till we fixed it. Now is the time
