I would choose the lighter color.

The grey is really pretty but white is timeless. I would go with white. I take it from your last photo there is no island? If there is an island, I would do the grey for the island and white for everything else --best of both worlds.

The more I look at it, the more I like the darker gray. It's harder to match whites, and I think the added contrast from the gray will add some appealing visual drama.

*** I added a photo that shows the two cab colors with a white cabinet so you can see the subtle gray color that the Urban Stone has. I don't know if it makes a difference, but there it is.

I just took a photo of the samples with the lights off (rainy outside), and the urban stone looks so different. ugh. I love them both.

Darlene Thatcher I agree- I'm just worried that in a few years I'll be sick of it and think "Why did I pick something so trendy?". Whereas the Urban stone- while still gray- is light enough that it could be more timeless. (I THINK? lol)

It's pretty dang tough to beat the sheer beauty of gray in any shade, but then I am an unabashed gray lover. What color scheme does it not complement?

the lighter one. i like grey cabinetry as an accent but not as the whole kitchen.

The "selling point" with the lighter cabinets is the freedom to use your color in the backsplash. If you choose gray you are limiting yourself. Just MHO.

Choose what you like and what speaks to you. Everyone has their own opinion. What will take your breath away when you walk into your kitchen?

Kathi Steele I like the way you phrased this. I really love big white/light airy kitchens. Mine is small, but I guess the lighter gray might be a good choice for me because it gives me the light kitchen, but with a hint of grey (which is always my favorite).

Yes gray has been used in decor for years, however, the point is that it's been OVERUSED & often inappropriately, making it somewhat boring. . That's what made it trendy, not so trendy now ( I've noticed that designers are shying away from using it now where I live). I really don't care what's "in" or "out", I go with what I like. So if you like gray it's your kitchen, but I always go more classic in more permanent things such as cabinetry 'shades of white or wood tones & use color for accessories & art.

Bailey R agreed. The more I think about it, and the more I look at the samples sitting in the kitchen, the more I am feeling the lighter Urban Stone.

Pick the color that you will love to look at when you walk into your kitchen. At the end of the day you ultimately have to live with your choice so pick what speaks to you... Good Luck!!!! They are all great colors.

I actually had the same dilemma, and just placed my order with Cliq Studios on Monday. I will have an island and was trying to decide whether to do that in the darker gray. In the end I went with the urban stone for everything, and will have a countertop very similar to your photo. I think it will be a brighter and warmer kitchen with the US - although I do love the contrast of the darker gray. In the end, whatever you chose is going to be beautiful. That's what I keep telling myself after spending way too much time thinking about it. Post pictures when your kitchen is complete!

Go with the white. I find gray in a kitchen unappetizing.

You don't mention where you live, but consider year round lighting in this space. Will overcast days make your kitchen more depressing with a darker color? Do you really want to rely on interior lighting, throughout the year? Do you have a sufficient quantity of "can" lights or ceiling fixtures to compensate for darker cabinetry?

Virtually any background color will work with the lighter cabinet color. It will make your kitchen appear visually larger. If any of the cabinets have glass fronts, colored dishware will show better with a lighter backgroung, and vice versa (so long as the dishware colors compliment the darker cabinets).

Joy - you made me laugh! When I read your question I said to myself that I actually was secretly hoping more people would say to go with the lighter one! So weird how this thread has shown me what I have been leaning toward this whole time. My original idea was to do the dark grey. I ordered a sample of the light just for the heck of it, and the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. And it was making me second guess my original decision. I guess that's where my confusion started!

ceilsan32 I'm in the DC area, and the kitchen seems to get great light now, but I haven't lived here for a full year yet. Today was overcast, and I actually liked the way the lighter gray looked even more!

Personally, I think grey is going to be around for a long time. It's SO much nicer than beige and matches everything! It's so easy to add pops of colour.

I'm going to be doing a kitchen reno soon and plan to do grey as well. Go for it!!!!

White never gets old and you can change everything around it to suit changing styles :) The gray is beautiful- but you will struggle to find paint colors that coordinate.

I like both and you can't go wrong with either, but I would go with Urban Stone. It is similar to the color of my new cabinets and I am very happy with them.

Do what makes you smile. Kathi Steele probably said best what I try to say all the time!! Girl, my kitchen cabinets are RED. I could care less if someone else loves them or hates them, and trendy can kiss your booty! Do what makes your heart happy!!

It appears you may now be leaning toward the lighter grey! Try different lighting (L.E.D. omni directional in your pendant lighting, if you have it; strip lighting under your cabinet selection, held above countertop, to see how you like it; canned lights at different intensities; lighting on a bright, sunny day (hope you have one at this time of the year...), Good luck!

I don't think it's necessarily a question of pleasing others vs pleasing oneself. I know that there are things that I'm likely to LOVE today and be thoroughly tired of in 5 years. Which is fine with bedding, or the paint colour in one room - things that are easily changed, but I personally would prefer not to be stuck for the next 20+ years with cabinetry that I'm tired of.

Having said that, if you feel pretty confident that you will still love grey 10 years from now, regardless of the trends, then go for it!

I feel like posting on Houzz is similar to flipping a coin to decide. Once you flip the coin you suddenly realize which option you want it to land on. Sounds to me like you really want it to land on grey.

I originally said to go with white but the grey really seems to speak to you. I say go for it!

The Urban Stone is beautiful and classic like the white, but with a twist. I think you will love it for a very long time. Good choice! Please post pictures when you're done.

You guys- Seriously, thank you SO much! Reading all of your responses really helped me sort through what I wanted. Glo European Windows & Doors you hit it on the head- I realized that I really do love the Urban Stone (lighter gray), so I went with it and placed my order!

Now, every time I pass by the sample with the london sky quartz, I get that excited stomach flutter- so I know I made the right choice!

YeS plastic!! I cut them to size with a regular pair of scissors and command stripped them up there. I fully aimed to put a more permanent mounting behind them, but they've stayed so far!
