Yes, to all of those. The issues with putting it on the long wall:

1. Too close to the tv.

2. You have to keep your head turned to watch.

3. If you put it on an articulating arm, you limit the number of people that can watch it.

I personally am not a fan of the tv being the first thing you see when you walk in a room. If you opt to do it, you may consider having a couple swivel chairs that can be turned toward to tv. But obviously it's your home and your call.
