Curtain dilemma

hello, I have using glass doors in my living room as well as vaulted ceilings. I would like to hang a curtain, but I am having trouble deciding what would look best. I am torn between a single or double panel, and I'm not sure how high to hang the curtain rod. Thinking something light and flowy as well. thank you!

I would get some furniture and rug first. Then, figure out window treatments. If you hang drapery, I would see what standard lengths plus your rings and rod would do so for example, a stand length of drape is 84". With a 80" door, you would barely get above the window, so I would figure for 96" drapery then add the length of your hanging devices. But you select drapery last.

Hang a decorative rod above the door. Use grommet top panels. It looks like you will need at least four panels in order to have enough fullness when closed. I think that it will be hard to choose the panels until you have furniture, rugs, art etc. Do you need light control/privacy or do you simply want to dress the Windows?

thanks for the advice! the doors face the backyard so privacy isn't too much of an issue but it can get pretty bright during the day. it's 100" wide and 80" tall, wondering if I should hang the rod several inches to a foot higher than the top of the window?

good idea! yeah we just moved in and we have hand me down furniture, going to be replacing it with new furniture soon...will hopefully have a cohesive flow to the room.

not yet! we're actually in the process of looking for me furniture, I have hand me downs that don't really match. I'm thinking of a sofa with accent chairs and an ottoman. I'm having a hard time with choosing colors, mainly for the sofa. I'm leaning toward off white or gray. my kitchen opens into the room and I have gray counters so I don't know if that would be to much gray? also, I'm not sure if a cream color would go. leaning toward these...

What about a small sectional with a chaise instead of sofa?

wow that's a super cute design! we originally were thinking a sectional but are afraid that may be too limiting with our space (long and narrow)

How about a nice chaise instead of a sofa! That with a couple of nice chairs would be great in your space and then for your next home be flexible enough to work there as well. I would keep colors on the "cool" side and I think the combo ks posted above would be really great. Pinks are really coming on strong in the design world, so if you love that, I think that would be great as "small" touches. A sectional with a chaise is very limiting. If you do go that route, find one that has the "convertible" chaise (one that you can move the chaise side from left to right when needed).
