SUDS

I'm having suds probs with several detergents..Wisk with the he for high efficiency machines and Wisk for all machines lots of white foamy suds I must be very careful dosing these.

Tide Pur is by far the worst so...yesterday I let the darks get started checking for residue there was none than I measured out 1 spoonfull (1teaspoon) of the Tide Pur put it in the dispenser and added a pint of cool water as a chaser...tons of froth within about a minute. One teaspoon isn't enough to clean but its enough to foam up. frankly I've noticed a lot more foaming lately than usual and I suspect my soft city water has gotton softer. I know I can add some LFS but I hate doing that as it means the load needs re-washed. I suppose I will not use these foaming detergents for awhile. I don't panic over a bit of suds, but when I look in and sll I see is foam I know I need to stay away from that detergent. Lol. Shame.

Wisk he and Tide Pur can SUDS a lot during the wash portions, I have noticed this too....but like a Euro detergent, they both rinse so well!!

The more I use TidePur (especially on darks and even sheets)...the more I love it. I have been using Wisk he on our son's clothes, and Wisk CLEANS (maybe better than Tide).

There are times, especially when our whole house water softener regenerates, and our water is indescribably soft and "silky", and I really notice detergents sudsing up...but like you said 1 tsp. is not enough to clean, especially in a machine of your size.

Just add an extra rinse, if you can use LFS, it will be dispensed during the final rinse and suds will be "gone" LOL

Mama...is it enough suds to trigger the Whirlpool to go into a suds removal routine or just enough suds that you still see some bubbles even in the final rinse?

Larsi...I asked you about the amount to use of the Miele brand detergents and you said that the full scoop (provided) would be too much. I've experimented and I'm getting like no bubbles with a full scoop. I wont use anymore than the scoop can hold but I was amazed how little the Miele detergents didn't crate suds.

Is it possible you have too many suds because you're underdosing? Perhaps with such a small amount, there isn't enough defoamer to adequately collapse the suds?

I'm still having suds issues with Tide Pur..what a shame since there's not much to choose from on store shelves for darks without OB's. I really don't need a OB free workhorse detergent as I can just add STPP and step the detergent up a great deal if needed. I also don't want one that's going to break the bank. Anyone know if any of the BioKleens are OB and S.Percarbonate free?

GG is out of the question, its OB free but its loaded in Oxygen Bleach which is why its so nice on whites.

Suggestions are welcome and appriciated. My brain is tired.

Tide Colorguard..what a laugh. Its loaded in brighteners. Wonder what the guard is.

I now remember BioKleen all have oxy. Suppose I'll try Green Works, but suspect its sudsy for me.

I can understand OB's being in detergent. .the manufactures don't want people saying their detergent is turning whites dingy, but holy cow someone should make a decent *HE* OB free for darks. Its a crime.

Roc Thanks for the link...I have Mrs meyers something and really don't think much of it. Sadly I have nothing in my stash that's OB free, except vintage soap flakes lol Seems OB's have been popular for a lot of years.

I could manage if I only needed it for the occasional load of dress darks, but the boys wear a lot of dark tee's. I suppose I will try my Cheer powder again. Long as I can use enough to clean without over sudsing I'm good to go..Thank You Roc

Mama.....as I mentioned earlier, TidePur can be a tad sudsy during the wash portion, and even Rinse 1. Rinse 3, final rinse, looks pretty great though. TidePur is my FAV now for darks. It really cleans, leaves everything fresh, soft and looks and feels so cared for.

GreenWorks cleans amazingly well, but it is in my NEVER file, as it is too sudsy during wash and all rinses. IMO, it suds much more than TidePur.

@mamapinky -- Try the Mrs. Meyers again. It should be just fine for dark T shirts. Those textiles aren't high quality. They will look like the dickens with repeated washing in strong detergent. You CAN lighten up! You got hot water mama!

Lol...except I cant use hot water on darks. I don't mind a light duty detergent, but I think if I remember correctly it suds to much. I'll try my Cheer again and make a wish..lol. I know Tee's arnt made with quality fabric but they arnt Walmart brand either.

Please do me a favor and read the ratings -- concerns for asthma -- on Cheer, which gets Ds and Fs. Call me crazy but if makes me uneasy on kid's clothes.

    Cheer ratings

Roc Thank You. .Asthma is a strange thing and each person reacts different to different things. Just because someone has asthma does not mean they all have the same allergies or triggers. Each asthmatic can have different triggers. Chips triggers are activity, and stress. He shows no allergies or reactions to any enviornmental factors, other than cat dandor. This includes laundry supplies. I have gone over this with his pulmanary doctors many times, at Childrens and the Cleveland Clinic. Not that detergents don't trigger some asthmatics it does, just not this kid. Would be so much easier if it was enviornmental induces asthma. As I can't eliminate activity or stress.

As always you're on top of it.

Has anyone tried Ecover liquid or the discontinued powder lately?

Roc I'm sure not on the top of it lol...but as far as Chip goes I've had to be agressive with doctors, testing ect...its his life.

I was wondering about Purex, does it have OBs?

    Pretty sure Purex has OBs

I really like Ecover. Liquid and powder I actually finished a box of the powder and it worked great on whites.. I still have an unopened one somewhere. I expect Biokleen premium plus powder to be a good substitute.

My workhorse dark detergents are German Persil, then puracy (on amazon), then 7th gen ulta power/Cheer powder/Biokleen cold water or sport/Ecover 2x
