Hello Rachelle, So I understand you rethinking the purple tone of the room but I do have to commend you on going outside the box and choosing a different color than most would. As of myself I do like the color, I think the trim on the bottom of he wall breaks the space up and makes it look interesting. By the look of the room it seems to need some updated window treatments and maybe some lamps for soft light. Also a focal point on the blank wall. How about a grouping of mirrors, maybe even something with a vintage look. Distressed silver tones maybe? Making the room look elegant but with a little edge. Also something soft for your drapes. Maybe just panels nothing to heavy. Here are a few accessories choices, I have used these mirrors for another client they are gorgeous, and both of these lamps will give you another interesting object in the room. These are all from a company called Uttermost. Love their things. Also can't really tell by the pictures but if it would be possible to exchange the wine storage table for a larger credenza. Something even enclosed for storage and a vintage white finish. I think you are on the right track.

The purple wall color doesn't enhance the room. Please repaint it the same as the other walls. Remove the dated panels and replace them with something that goes to the floor. If you love the purple, the panels is where you could add a nice pop of purple. Change the table runner to something more colorful with the purple in it also. Remove the plates and the glasses on top and replace them with a nice white or beige set of plates on chargers instead. Add a nice big picture of a flower or an abstract picture for the room. Leave the 3 gobblets in trhe center of the table and add a small plant. Remove the tall candles and the stuff on the side table. Could you post a picture of more of the room? thanks.

If you love the Purple wall, you have to tie it in with more purple in the room so it makes sense. You could get a great piece of artwork that has some of the purple in it, a print fabric that has some of the purple In it for your window treatments. I agree with the other comments, simple panels on a decorative rod would look great. Food luck!

Not a fan of the color. If you want purple go egg plant. Classy. This color looks Locke for a girls bedroom. Change drapes out to white panels only.

Yes you need a picture large on that wall.

the purple would look GREAT with light grey shimmery panel curtains, mirrors and silver items. change out the table top for silver candlestick holders and add mirrors on the walls. J by design has it so right with the suggested lamps and mirrors.

I agree Barbara. Adding more purple accents to the room would help. Maybe even a deeper tone and some prints to accent. I say keep the purple wall, you painted it that color for a reason. You like the color, you have to work with what a client likes and their style. Everyone is not the same, this room has some great possibilities.

@jbyDesign, you are so right, everyone has different taste! I agree with your suggestion to add some deep purple, I think it will ground the space.

rachelle0228 - You have a beautiful dining room - just a few tweaks will make it fabulous.

I agree w/the others about the purple accent wall. I like a bold color and it could look great if you used a bold eggplant (as travisinteriors suggested) and continue the trim on the purple wall around the room.

Question - is the wall to the left a blank wall or an entrance into the room?

@essentialsinside - thank you. I love the color eggplant and that was my intial thought. However, after putting dark wood as the dining table, I figured adding the eggplant wall would make the room dark and gloomy. I may need to go a tad darker just so it looks more formal instead of like a "little girls room"

I really like the round mirror. It gives a different shape in the room and gives depth with the texture of the frame. You could still add a canvas picture over the sideboard or vice versa. Add a little at a time is sometimes best os things don't seem to start looking the same and you can see if you need to add more drama to the room or if you need to pull back some. You know what you like, so go with it. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes helps you in the right direction.

P.S. I love the Dorigrass Mirror (2nd pic) (we sell it) but I'm not sure about it if you're going to go w/an eggplant.

It's me again! I like the mirror too but make sure that it's the right size for the wall, not to small, not to big. I think you are on the right track, keep looking for more art work. Try art.com and posters.com too.

I love the grey panels and also the round mirror. But I still believe the tableware (looks like dark red or maroon pottery?) is too heavy for the look. I'd look for silver chargers under lighter dinner plates, complimented by your silver candlesticks. What kind of lighting is that over the table?
