I'm so excited to finally have my fence up and this spring I will be staining it. From the get-go, I've said I was going to stain it white, but now I'm not so sure. After the boards have weathered & shrunk, leaving gaps between them (see snow picture), I'm afraid that a white stain won't have the classy look that I'm wanting. I googled 'white stained fence' and after seeing pictures, I'm afraid it will look almost run-down, like it was made out of pallets. (I like the gaps, by the way).
The house is cedar shake, a lt blue-gray, & I'll stay that color with white trim & probably black shutters. The garage is lap siding & will be the same color as the house. I've even thought of maybe going to a darker gray for the fence? I don't know, I'm so undecided & it's almost time to start staining it. Give me some ideas please.
