Hi, I think a lighter version of the wall paint inside the coffer would work well and the wood trim inside stay the white. This then reads as more substantial trim, even though the 'beams' are actually drywall.But all white looks very fresh and more streamlined, and I think that is my preference, but it really depends on the décor you are going with if that extra colour in the ceiling will be a focal point.This image looks similar to your colour and you can see the effect of the full colour. If you like that contrast then I would choose that.

I think if you have a light color, or go a few shades lighter than your wall paint, it will be ok to paint the area between the beams. I personally think the paint in the second photo is too dark but it works only because of the offsetting white in the wainscoting on the walls. If the wainscoting wasn't there, the color on the ceiling would be way too dark for my taste. I never want to feel like the ceiling is closing in on me. But this is all based on your taste.

I personally would never paint my coffered ceiling (other than white) because standing on a ladder taping off the beams/moulding sounds like a terrible task; and I certainly wouldn't assign it to my husband because he would complain/whine in hopes of getting out of the task.

I would paint the flat part of the ceiling inside each coffer to either match your walls or just take that same paint and have it cut to about 50%. The molding within the coffers, the vertical parts and the bottoms of the "beams" I would leave as white.

Chrissy- i ended up taking Brickwood Builders advice for the most part. inside my coffers I did a flat paint in a little lighter shade than the BM Pashmina I have on all my walls. Any vertical surface I did in the Pashmina. in hindsight, I probably could have just done the Pashmina in the coffers since color looks different on a horizontal surface or cut it to 50% as suggested by Brickwood. i can post a picture when it’s daylight. You might consider starting a new thread and include pictures of your space showing your ceiling and noting how much light the room gets.

Your color is pretty...lighter than mine. I thunk you could go either way and use at 50% or full strength
