Is the sofa on the wall smaller than the one which back faces the kitchen? It looks that way. If you switched those two, that might help. I don't see how you can use the console, unfortunately. :(

I would just try it and see, especially since you have the area to the left of that to enter the family room. And if you put lamps on it, you could snake the cords under the sofa and plug them in to the right of the fireplace. Do you have something you could put in front of that outlet, right next to the sofa, to hide the cords, like a basket of firewood or a little table or something? Actually, it looks like you'd need to move the sofa over to the right so as not to impede the entrance to that room. (BTW: I love the fact that the dog could still get in and out just going right through the table legs and out the doggie door...like a personal doggie tunnel!)

I think I would move the sofa to face the fireplace, then angle the chair a bit in the new spot where sofa currently is

@janbwill, but the sofa is too long and would stick out past the end of the wall and into the side of the entertainment unit. Is that still ok?

Stacy, what is the length of the sofa and the wall that the loveseat is currently on?

The sofa is 84"

The wall is 122" and the entertainment center is 29" deep.

What do you think about trying to switch the sofa and the loveseat (btw, it's a lovely room!!!)

Thanks northpoint2 :-) Do you think it would be ok to have the loveseat and table facing the TV? If the room would still look balanced, I'm willing to give it a try ;-) couches are quite heavy so I'll need to wait and have hubby help out too.

If you cut the table legs down 2 inches and chalk paint it to go with your entertainment ctr. or a fun color it would be nice, plus make a nice place for sofa dwellers to put a drink etc.
