Bathroom Counter height with vessel and wall mount faucet

I am a little torn on the subject of bathroom counter height. I personally like them in the 34" range. I am helping a friend design her bathroom and she is my height 5'7". The sink she likes is 5" tall plus 4" clearance for the faucet and a mirror above of course. If i were to make the counter at 34"high plus 5"H vessel plus 4" to faucet down spout = 43" plus the 2" of the spout plus 2"ish diamter of the faucet itself = 47".. this would put the bottom of the mirror around 48" which I feel is too high for the mirror to start. So i am leaning toward placing the counter height to 32" high so the mirror can start around 45/46" for a better self view. This is correct for the mirror hang but it still bothers me that the counter will only be 32" high. Am I over thinking this 32". Or will it be a comfortable height because of the vessel height on top?

Yes, if you don't adjust the height of the counter so that the top rim of the vessel sink is at the normal counter height you like, then the water will run down your arms to your elbows when you wash your hands. ;)

Forget the mirror right now. It is not the issue. If you want a vessel sink, you must adjust the counter height to it. The height of rim of the sink becomes the default. 5” high sink needs a 29” counter to equal your 34”. I would prefer a 31” counter with the 5” vessel…36” total height.

As for the faucet, I like them installed in the wall, not on the counter. Take up too much space.

Now choose the size of your mirror.

Agree with Judy. You have to adjust the height. Also, just a thought, make sure you can get your feet in your sink for those few times you want to wash your feet!!! Some of these sinks are impossible to do that in!

Unless a vessel sink is large, it should only be used in a powder room. They are difficult to brush teeth and shave with. They are also a little harder to clean the counter as water has to be wiped up rather than just wiped straight in the sink.

My top is at 31" my wall faucet at 41", and we think they're perfect.

We did ours at 29". There is no problem with the mirror since there is enough clearance for that.
