I like your room. Given all the dark browns, have you considered white curtains to lighten things up, and instead get your pops of color from accessories, such as your pillows, throws, ottoman, etc? That being said, I do like the teal idea. Just be sure to bring it into other parts of the design besides the curtains as well.

I thought white would be to light since main colors are sand an dark brown. I thought about orange but not teal so I will look at that. I am so indecisive - I have been bringing home panels for weeks waiting for the "one" to call me. Can you tell me what you mean by bringing in parts of the design? In the curtains themselves? I had though about subtle flowers on the curtains? Thank you!!

Because your kitchen cabinets look like they are orange-y and unless you have plans to change them, I think I'd own it to create flow from room to room. However, I'd consider a different plan to bring color in based on the photos in your Ideabook. Your photos show neutral drapes and colorful accessories.

The artwork on the wall between the door and LR window looks a little sad. How about replacing it with more vibrant art (similar to the one over the sofa)? Remove the too-small end table and lamp under it. Move the dog beds to the back wall - they're demanding to be the stars of the show and you have much nicer pieces.

The orange pillows aren't giving you the color punch you want because they don't contrast enough with the brown sofa. Keep them but replace the tan pillows with a warm white and try an orange throw over the ottoman. Also, maybe shoot for an orange that isn't earth tone, one that is a bit brighter without being gaudy.

Finally, suggestions about the drapes: I'd consider visually enlarging the back wall by hanging panels high to the left of the door and to high to the right of the window, as well as a set on the window by the TV. (This also makes it possible to goof off and have a movie afternoon.) The drapes in your dining room are too short, I think you'd be much more pleased with longer ones hung high.

I think you have a beautiful home, these are just some suggestions for minor adjustments.

Thanks so much for these suggestions! Agreed on the dog beds! The curtains up now are actually different panels I brought home to try out (we just moved in) and so I will go longer for sure. I am just having such a hard time with color for them. Pattern? Stay with a neutral sand and bring pops of color through accessories? I had a decorator suggest big multi-color prints which just did not appeal to me at all. I did bring home a light (although not white) and it wasn't calling my name. The teal suggestion I had not thought of. I am changing the wall art too.

I'm a a huge dark brown neutral fan. My thought is along the same line as the others that have commented, add a POP of color with some simple panels.

Haha - agreed on the length - actually what you see are panel samples I have been collecting in hopes that one will "grab me". I am actually more drawn to a neutral color panel but then I really need to get some pop elsewhere. Truthfully I just did not think the room through when I purchased the rugs and coach. These suggestions are very helpful! I do see your neutral pic is against a darker wall. At some point I may need to add some more color to at least one wall in the room.

I am a huge fan of natural linen. It goes everywhere. Bringing in color with pillows and throws is easy to do and easy to change when the spirit moves you.

The art between the window and door is the wrong aspect ratio. If it could be hung vertically, it would fit. Otherwise, it needs to go somewhere else.

I would remove the roller blinds from the top of the right hand window. Your door has a nice 3-wide window above it and the symmetry is lost with the roller blind.

Disagree with the white curtains; like the dark orange to match the pillow in the LR.

I actually think you have plenty of color in the room. And plenty of interest with that fabulous sideboard and an interesting piece of art over the sofa. Pull some of the teal/green from the art for another pillow, maybe a throw in the room. It will look great with the rust and tan pillows.

Lose the dopey little table and lamp by the door. Maybe a dog bed could squish in there.

Solid ivory or ivory and blue pattern would both work well! Keep it light and bright. Add more saturated color with accent pillows, not drapes.
