Where do you recommend buying a Meyer lemon from?

I am just curious as to where you guys have bought your Meyer lemons from and how healthy they were. I think mine has died and I am looking to buy a new tree. Mine was never a strong plant and I think it just lacked the will to live I've read this forum for 2 years and this plant just never responded to the treatments from your expertise advice. My Calamondin and tangerine are flourishing. I bought all my trees from Michigan Bulb.

I would try Harris or Four Winds...there are many that sell Meyer lemons. I bought some of mine from fastgrowingtrees.

I got on four winds and they wanted $40 for shipping. I was a little price shocked at that. They wanted more for shipping than the tree hahaha. I will look at Harris! Thank you.

That's true...Briteleaf is supposed to be quite good, although I've never ordered from them. I looked on fastgrowing trees and noticed that 1. Right now they have "free shipping" on all orders over $79, and 2. That they added quite a few varieties to their collection. I wonder though if they now just sub it out to Four Winds like that other nursery...I forget the name.

Sorry to hear about your Meyer.

You might consider looking locally. Where I live, anywhere that sells citrus (during warm weather) commonly has Meyers. You can then look at the form and have a bit of an idea about quality.

hibiscus- I would love to buy one locally! I live in Indiana and I have never seen one. I will keep my eyes open though! I hate that I have to have citrus trees shipped to me. I feel like it's such a rough way to treat plants. I regularly visit the local nurseries and I hadn't really thought of checking them! Right now I am thinking of buying one from Hirt's through amazon. I would get really fast shipping that way and maybe it would be easier on the meyer. I am also considering Harris, I just need to check into how long it would take to ship. With the temp being so low right now I would hate for a tree to be out and about for a week or so.

I am not a fan of Hirt's , but I have no direct experience with them. I have run across their offerings over the years, and just little things about them have made me leery.

From what I've read, Harris does know what they are doing regarding growing and shipping, and they keep an eye on weather.

I'm going to make some calls to my big box stores and local nurseries to find out when they are getting shipments. I have talked to the plants manager at my big box, and she can actually look stuff like this up in their system. Unfortunately, that specific store is not allowed to order any citrus, so I have to hunt elsewhere.

I would try Harris or Briteleaf. They are both very reputable and their shipping costs are very reasonable.
